History of the Baylor colors
Baylor chose green and gold in the spring of 1897. A student committee was asked to pick school colors. Committee member Sara Rose Kendall later wrote that she proposed the pair after seeing a field of dandelions from a train carrying Baylor students to a debate in Bryan. Baylor says the colors first appeared at a Baylor Glee Club concert on March 25, 1897, though Kendall's own account calls that only 'said to be' the first use. The colors appear in the school song 'That Good Old Baylor Line' ('fling our green and gold afar').
