History of the Clemson colors
Clemson's orange and purple date to 1896, when Walter Riggs organized the school's first football team and brought the game, along with some old orange-and-navy jerseys, from what is now Auburn University. The jerseys had faded from repeated washing, so Riggs made orange the predominant color, and the faded navy became a deep purple. Today those colors are officially called Clemson Orange and Regalia, and the university's brand standards describe Regalia as a nod to Clemson's academic history.

Clemson Orange on apparel: Pantone 165 C
Clemson specifies different color codes for Clemson Orange depending on where it appears. Print uses PMS 1595 C on coated paper and PMS 152 U on uncoated paper, while apparel uses PMS 165 C.
