Creighton University School Colors

History of the Creighton colors
Creighton's school colors are blue and white, and before the Bluejays name its teams were often called simply 'The Blue and White' or the Hilltoppers. By 1923 other schools also used the Hilltoppers name, so the Omaha Bee ran a naming contest at the request of alumni and the athletic board. 'Bluejays' won, largely because the bird matched the school colors. The colors also give the fight song its title, 'The White and the Blue', which Gordon X. Richmond wrote in 1924.
