University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa School Colors
University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa's school colors are Mānoa Green (#024731) and White. Hawaiʻi's brand standards define 6 colors in all; every official HEX, RGB, CMYK and Pantone value is listed below, along with the story of how the colors were chosen.
History of the Hawaiʻi colors
According to UH Athletics, green and white were picked by a group of faculty wives planning school social events, because white materials were always on hand and green decorations could come from the islands' tropical plants. Green is linked to Lono, the Hawaiian god of agriculture, and to the ti leaf, while white is linked to Hawaiian royalty. In 2000 the athletics department added black and silver to its color scheme along with a new logo, with black tied to the Kumulipo creation chant and silver to the misty rain and rainbows of Mānoa valley. In 2008 the football team brought green back into its uniforms and dropped silver.
