History of the Ole Miss colors
Ole Miss adopted its colors in 1893, when its first football team settled on red and navy blue. Team manager and coach Dr. A.L. Bondurant suggested combining Harvard's crimson with Yale's navy blue, reasoning that the colors looked good together and that the team would do well to share the spirit of both schools. The colors began as football colors and later became the university's official athletic colors.
