History of the Texas A&M colors
Maroon and white are Texas A&M's official colors, and they are named in the alma mater, 'The Spirit of Aggieland', written in 1925. A&M did not always use maroon. In 1898 cadets traveling to Austin for a football game wore red-and-white ribbons, then the college's colors, and maroon is reported to have replaced the red around 1917.
