University of Connecticut School Colors
University of Connecticut's school colors are Navy Blue (#000E2F) and White (#FFFFFF). UConn's brand standards define 7 colors in all; every official HEX, RGB, CMYK and Pantone value is listed below, along with the story of how the colors were chosen.
History of the UConn colors
UConn says blue and white were adopted as the school colors as early as 1893, when the institution was still an agricultural school. In the 1890s the blue was a very light shade called Imperial Blue, much paler than today's navy. In the 1920s the Connecticut Agricultural College football team wore orange jerseys to stand out from rivals that also used blue and white, and student leaders proposed switching to black and orange in 1928 and 1929, but the idea was never voted on and blue and white stayed. The university says National Flag blue and white became the official colors in 1952, and the dark blue was later fixed to a Pantone standard.
