History of the Utah State colors

Utah State's own history timeline says blue became the official school color in 1901, and that it was worn that year by the school's first women's basketball team. Blue and white remain central to campus traditions. The "A" on the Old Main tower is lit white each night and blue for special campus events and major athletic wins. In 1976 the university bought a live white bull that was painted blue before games, and the current Big Blue mascot was introduced in 1987.
